5000 Fifth

At 5000 5th Ave., Andy Weiss resides in a true Weisshouse. Renovated in 2019, this apartment became a modern canvas for iconic furniture and a lifetime collection of Art.

After opening a wall to the kitchen and adding an island with floss lighting, the living room and dining room became part of an open floor plan flooded with natural light streaming in from several skylights and the large glass patio doors.

After a some renovations and a coat of white paint, the space was ready for the collaborative vision of Andy and her daughter Stacy. Together the pair walked through the showroom of their family business and designed what would become Andy’s ideal home. Iconic furniture by B&B Italia, Cassina, Aalto, and other Weisshouse specialties adorn the space, layered with colorful pillows and cherished books set in custom built-in bookcases designed by Stacy Weiss and Carpenter Construction. The bookcases, filled with colorful bindings and sculptures, serve as a dynamic backdrop for a Knoll game table and black leather chairs. Andy’s love of art adorns the space’s clean white walls playing off the furniture to create a gallery-like curation. A black B&B Italia leather bench sits under a James Lechay, framing the bright pallet of the painting. Through large floor-to-ceiling windows is the apartment’s balcony space. Decorated with teak chairs and a seagrass carpet, the open space spills bright natural light into the living area. Two-facing sofas sit around a large custom 14 x 13’ area rug centered by a stainless steel coffee table. In the dining area, an extendable table is surrounded by the same sculptural black leather chairs from the game table, allowing for extra seating for large gatherings. Above the table, a skylight fills the space with more natural light. Andy’s apartment at 5000 Fifth Ave. was a unique project for a dear member of the Weisshouse family that incorporates her love of art and design into a perfectly curated and comfortably sophisticated living space.
